Julia is a 50 foot (16.5m) Catamaran of the Admiral series
designed by Lavranos, constructed in South Africa and launched
in 1997. She has got 4 double cabins with shower/WC en suite
and 2 separate staff berth. The boat is equipped for bluewater
cruising and has got all the necessary safety and navigation
equipment. A 11,5 kva generator produces all the electricity
you need at both 220V and 380V. 2 Volvopenta 30hp saildrives
power the vessel at an average speed of 6 to 7 knots (depending
on current) when not using the sails. Under sail and good
wind conditions the boat can easily reach 15 knots and more.
On the outside
At the rear of the vessel there is an outside seating area.
This is where people tend to spend most of their time whilst
sailing. In calm weather or at anchor there is a large amount
of flat deck space and a large trampoline where you can enjoy
a leisurely sunbathe.
On the inside
From this outside area, sliding glass doors lead inside to
the salon and galley area. At the centre is a circular table
with seating around, from which you can watch the television
and DVD player, should you be so inclined. To the port side
is an alcove housing all the navigation and other electronic
equipment, whilst to starboard is the main kitchen area, with
fridges, freezers, cooker, microwave ... even a dishwasher
and washing machine.
The 4 cabins are located down a few steps on either side
from this central living space, inside the two hulls. Each
forward cabin contains a double bed but if required can be
easily turned into 2 singles. The aft cabins have double beds.
Each cabin has en suite facilites including a shower with
hot and cold fresh water and a toilet.
